I had been researching portable dishwashers for some time now, and finally chose the GE 24 inch.

Take it from me, you probably do NOT want one of those counter-top models; not if you have regular sized pots and pans and large dinner plates like me. If you are going to cook a bunch, then you need the real deal–24″ is the standard size.

The delivery was spectacular: the delivery men called me a day in advance to let me know it would be delivered between a certain time frame, and then the day of, they called me again to let me know they would be at my house within one hour. They brought the dishwasher up a flight of stairs without damaging it. They opened the dishwasher for me, took off all the packing materials and put it where I wanted it. Such A+ service!!

It even came with a small tube of Jet Dry and a coupon for the next purchase of one!

The only, ONLY drawback is that damned short hose in the back. Only about 30 inches from the dishwasher to your facet is all you get. The dishwasher literally is backed as close to the counter as possible to reach.

The malfunctioning dishwasher was the least of my worries. I called GE and they scheduled someone to come out. When the person arrived he was rude and condescending to my wife. I informed GE of this and the complaint was completely disregarded. I am still trying to figure out a way to get a service call when I will be there but they will not deviate from the two days a week they come to my area. The dishwasher, when it worked, was ok but I hope you never have to contact them for service or customer support.

I bought this dishwasher direct from ABT a few months ago, and I love it. ABT delivered it, so they took it out of the box and set it up for me. It was no problem hooking up the faucet adapter. I live in an older apartment building so the faucet isn’t fancy or brand name, and it went right together. It hooks up easily and cleans very well. It even has more space inside than the built-in at my old apartment.

First off be prepared to have a dolly to get it inside your house. your door step is as far as the movers will take it. Second, I opened the box and find two outward dents on the side. Not a huge deal but hey, i just spent 500+ bucks here can i at least get it without dents. Third i hooked everything up, followed the instructions and the diswasher won’t drain. It sounds like there is somthing worng with the pump that drains the water into the sink. I called the 24 hot line and it gave me a list of the “most common problems assosiated with your appliance”.

BUYER BEWARE!!!! GE has done an extremely POOR job of ensuring ease of installation on this model. It comes with a cheezy quick connect/disconnect system that requires you to connect a coupling to your sink faucet. The connect only fits two sizes of threads. If you faucet does have the proper diameter, or type of thread (male or female), or has a recessed aerator, the GE connector ain’t goin’ to work. After six hours of going to Home Depot, Lowes, other hardware stores, and a specialty plumbing contractor, I still have been unable to locate an adaptor that fits. The faucet I was trying to connect to is newer, and a name brand faucet, too! In order to make this dishawasher work, I’m going to have to find a new faucet that has a thread configuration that matches the GE connector.

I just threw a party last weekend at my new apartment – I got this blender cuz it was big and looked nice (and I thought it might inspire some creative margaritas!)

The blender worked great and since our friends kept talking about how good it looked, I figured I’d give it a good review. The blender jar is huge (I think it’s 1.5 liters) – it’s perfect for parties. It also has some rubber feet to keep it from shaking and bouncing around. As usual, I spent a whole lot of time looking for a replacement dishwasher. Looked at a lot of models, and narrowed the choices down to models from Whirlpool, Bosch and KitchenAid.

The high end Bosch and Kitchenaid models were great – read nothing but good things (for the most part) about their performance, and they are very, very quiet. But, cost was a factor, and I just couldn’t see paying more than one grand for a dishwasher (and some are a LOT more than a grand!).

Looked into Whirlpool since they get excellent reliability ratings from the “consumer” magazine. This model caught my eye since it offered a fully-integrated panel (i.e., the controls are hidden) and some nice convenience features. So far, it has been a top-notch performer.

The potscrubber feature works very well, and is identical to the one on the Kitchenaid (not unexpected, since Whirlpool owns Kitchenaid). Love the movable cutlery basket! You can hang it on the door for more room, or put it on the front or side of the lower tray. If loaded properly, silverware comes out clean no matter where you put the basket. If, however, you tend to just toss in forks and spoons and not arrange them, you’ll want to put the basket on the lower rack so it gets more direct spray time.

The interior is light gray with a tile-type pattern. It’s plastic, so it’s not as fancy looking as stainless. But, I care more about what the dishwasher looks like from the outside, and the stainless steel outside looks great. It also has a unique feature among hidden control models in that the steam vent is on the front of the machine, and not the top. That’s important to keep the steam from hitting the bottom of your counters. Can’t figure out why everyone else doesn’t do it that way.

Many different cycles to choose from including regular, adaptive (which uses sensors to figure out what to do), high temp and sanitary rinse. Lots of nice little touches, such as foldable tines and clips to hold light plastic items so they don’t flip over during the wash cycle.

Noise levels are very low. No, it is not as whisper quiet as a higher end machine, but the sound level is not at all objectionable.

Excellent value – lots of features, works well, looks great, holds a boat-load of dishes, and has lots of convenience features. Can’t ask for more than that!

I have owned Whirpool dishwashers since my first home 30 years ago. The last one was 14 years old and never had a service call. When doing my remodel I was offered many high end units. Some costing $1300 to $1800. I looked at an Electrolux dishwasher that sold for $1300 . It had no hard food disposer and I would have to bend over to empty a messy screen. No Thanks! I found this unit and it blends in with all of the other kitchen appliances I have. It is as good as my last one. Quiet and cleans great.

The original “French White” Corningware was made of their famous pyroceramic glass, which could be used on the gas stove, put directly in the freezer, put under the broiler right from the freezer, and oh yes, also used in a microwave. And it was very unlikely to shatter if dropped. If you pounded on it with a hammer and nail you might have gotten it to break.

When World Kitchens bought the license from Corning, they decided to halt production of a line of cookware that would take anything and last forever, and dupe customers, especially brides, into thinking the stoneware “French White” was the same thing as the wonderful French White pyroceramic cookware previously available.

The pattern is attractive and can be used with any decor, but this stuff is not, repeat, really not, what people mean when they say “Corningware.”

Le Creuset can do most of the above mentioned, but it being metal you cannot use it in the microwave. Stoneware cannot go on top of the stove, and repeated trips from the freezer to the oven will eventually cause it to craze and crack. And being stoneware, it will also chip, and break if dropped, etc. Pyrex glassware cannot go on the gas stove although you can take it from the freezer to the oven, and also microwave it.

The only product which could do anything was pyroceramic, and World Kitchens has chosen to remove it from the market because it is “too good.”

They have recently brought back a few of the old square shapes, with the Cornflower, or plain white, calling it “vintage,” but the French White shape is not making an appearance yet. If you want it, email them and ask for it!

Meanwhile, don’t buy this stuff. Get Le Creuset for cooking and roasting (yes it is expensive but it lasts forever and cooks beautifully), and reheat things in Pyrex in the microwave.

Easy to wash, easy to store. It’s not that fancy and brittle that you have to watch to not break it. Four of pieces are with plastic lids and I use them to store marinated chicken, or salads I’ve maid. Four smallest peaces are great for dips and two biggest pieces that come with glass lids are perfect for baking. There is also a metal wire for easier carying.

We were very disappointed when our EdgeStar Countertop Dishwasher broke in less than a year. When I called the company, they were aware of a electrical/fuse problem that causes an error message 30 minutes into the regular cleaning cycle. If you turn the machine off and on immediately, the machine will run a normal cycle. However, the 30 minute restart requirement is very inconvenient and brings the total wash time to 2.5 hours! EdgeStar told me the the machine is not intended to be run every day, which in my opinion is a basic requirement of a dishwasher. The limited warranty covered a replacement fuse, but not repair, service, or labor. In short, they promptly sent me a replacement wire/fuse that needs to be installed by a professional (since it would involve taking apart the unit). The unit is too heavy to take to a repair shop, and the price of a home visit and repair exeeds the cost of the unit. So, we work the 2.5 hour cleaning cycle into our schedule. With this lack of quality, we don’t expect the machine to continue running for too long in the future. We certainly wouldn’t buy an EdgeStar unit again.

I wanted to write a review especially after reading some of the misinformation being spread about this machine. I’ve had it nearly a year now and am very pleased with its performance. At first I was equally unhappy with the long wash cycle, but there are optional choices many appear to have not attempted. The “3″ choice is the 50 minute cycle and highly recommended. The others are agreeably far too long.

This machine is awesome and has saved me loads of time washing my own dishes I’ve done for many years. It properly sanitizes and most always gets dishes clean unless you don’t properly prep them. For instance, don’t expect dried food to get clean. It may indeed come off, but it’s important to wash off most dishes as is necessary with larger machines.

This machine is a winner. If you have low water pressure, that’s not this machine’s fault. If you expect this washer to preheat water, you’re asking for too much. All you need to do is run the water prior to starting the washer to ensure hot water will run through immediately. This washer does have a heater, primarily to dry dishes for the longer wash settings.

It’s true on the “3″ setting, which is 50 minutes the dishes have water on them after the wash. You can simply leave them to dry a few hours and open the washer a crack. Or, you can shake off the water and set them out to dry a few minutes.

I don’t know what people expect for a countertop dishwasher, but some here are a little too critical. This washer is awesome and I’d give it 10 stars if I could. It’s saved me an enormous amount of time and water usage as well. It only uses 3 gallons of water.

I lasted 3 years without a dishwasher but it was driving me nuts. Our kitchen is tiny so we got this EdgeStar countertop dishwasher. We might have got the Danby but it’s only available in white and all our kitchen is black/silver so we got the EdgeStar.

Had to go to the store to get an adapter to make this work with my type of faucet… no big deal. Plugged it in and it will work for up to ten minutes before shutting off and noting “E1″, error message 1 “taking too long to fill up with water” which is likely a water pressure issue.

I don’t have any method to change the water pressure in my home so must return.

I have had this dishwasher for a month, and it does an okay job of washing dishes. But it has issues:

1) The normal wash cycle is 2 hours. The speedy one is 70 min.

2) The rack is completely specialized for a certain arraignment of dishes. It has large holes in the bottom rack, and you have to be creative in your dish an pan arraignment or things will fall through the rack.

3) In spite of all the time it takes to wash the dishes, they come out covered in water. I have to either let them dry in the dishwasher overnight or dry them by hand. My previous countertop dishwasher was a Danby. After a cycle I would open the door and the dishes were so warm they steam dryed in a few minutes.

4) There is no setting for the dishwasher to preheat the water.
